Waldo County Triad, the sheriff's office and Liberty Fire Department teamed up July 18 to give residents 911 address signs, File of Life packets and smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.

The 911 address signs help emergency personnel quickly locate a residence. In rural areas it can be difficult to see a sign on a home that is not visible from the road, which can delay the arrival of help, according to emergency personnel.

File of Life packets are designed to help medical personnel identify any medications a person is taking, the primary care physician and any emergency contact numbers.

In addition to distributing smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, representatives from Waldo County Triad, the sheriff's office and Liberty Fire Department checked for functioning detectors in the residences, as well as offering replacements if necessary.
