River Arts on Route 1 invites artists to submit work for its upcoming “Mainly Maine” exhibition. Welcome are submissions of in any media, sculpture and fine crafts welcome. The juror for this show will be Andy Curran, artist, founder and director of the former Saccarappa Art Collective in Westbrook and longtime owner of Dog Star Creations.

Work can be submitted during gallery hours anytime up to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1. The opening reception is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 7, from 5 to 7 p.m., and the exhibition will hang until Sept. 3.

Artists can enter as many as three works for jurying; there is a $20 entry fee, $15 for members. All work entered must be for sale. Maximum size for wall-hung work is 60 inches in height, 42 inches in width. For safety reasons, Plexiglas or other non-glass option should be used for work over 34 inches, excluding pastels. Entry forms are available online at riverartsme.org or at the gallery.

River Arts holds 10 themed, open, juried exhibitions per year, with some of Maine’s most prominent art community members as jurors. More than 1000 different Maine artists have exhibited in these shows. The gallery program creates opportunity for artists to have their work selected, participate in the gallery process and sell their work.
