The Lincolnville Community Library, 208 Main St., presents a free workshop with genealogist Ted Steele Wednesday, Aug. 5, at 7 p.m. Steele will explain how to use the online research tool Ancestry.com.

He will give an introduction to family history research and then show how one can do it using Ancestry. The popular online resource offers people access to billions of historical documents, including censuses, vital records, immigration records, family histories, legal documents, directories, photos, maps and more.

Steele is a past president of the St. Louis Genealogical Society and was the keynote speaker for the Maine Genealogical Society’s annual conference in 2012. He is also the author of two books on family history.

The library offers free access to Ancestry for anyone using the resource within the building. People are welcome to bring their own laptops to use during the workshop.
