River Arts on Route 1 invites the public to the opening reception for its newest juried exhibition, “Mainly Maine,” Friday, Aug. 7, from 5 to 7 p.m. More than 100 works in a wide variety of media and styles are in the exhibition, which will continue through Sept. 3.

Juror for this show is Andy Curran, artist, founder and director of the former Saccarappa Art Collective in Westbrook and longtime owner of Dog Star Creations.

Local artists with work in “Mainly Maine” include Lisa Mossel Vietze of Appleton; Jean Byrd of Camden; Betsy Birge of Liberty; Petrea Noyes of Lincolnville; Leslie Woods of Montville; Kathi Peters of Morrill; Jo Orise of Owls Head; Diana Dion of Rockport; Roberta Baumann of South Thomaston; Dianne Horton of Swanville; Hannelore Nelsbach and Carmella Yager of Tenants Harbor; Kathy Felch and Roger Reuillard of Union; Sherry Dec, Deborah Loughlin, Robert Macdonald, Ted Mohlie, Pacy Brooke and Joyce Steel of Waldoboro; Polly McGrory of Warren; and Tania Amazeen-Jones and Joan Freiman of Washington.

In addition, visitors can attend a reception for “Wilde Art,” a solo show of new work by Sarah Wilde, at the River Arts West Gallery. This year's show includes her light-filled sea and landscapes, as well as her new Tree Canopies series.
