The season’s closing event at the Jackson Learning Center & Historical Society (aka, the library) will be a special visit to the Children's Story Time Friday, Aug. 14, at 10 a.m. Lydia Schofield, a fifth grader at Mt. View Elementary School in Thorndike, will read her recently published children's book, “Bendy Wendy.”

“Bendy Wendy” is a story about a young gymnast who injures herself and the challenges she faces in her recovery. Schofield, whose pen name is JoJo Thoreau, has been traveling with her mother all over Maine, presenting “Bendy Wendy” at schools and libraries.

Children of all ages are welcome. For more information about Children's Story Time or to volunteer, call Louise Shorette at 722-3445. The library is located in the Jackson municipal complex on Route 7, behind the town office and fire station.
