Bridget Matros will lead two fun, family events at Waterfall Arts, 256 High St., Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 15 and 16.

The Saturday Art Together will run from 10 a.m. to noon with the theme of YOU Can Draw! Saturday Art Togethers are parent-child art making sessions using fun materials without the stress of making a “perfect product.” While working side by side, adults learn to support their young one’s creativity, problem solving and self-expression while getting some art therapy themselves.

Matros sais this theme is perfect for kids who love to draw and parents who simply “can’t.” She will give expert advice and use fun exercises that result in stunning “before” and “after” drawings, proving that drawing should be stress-free, fun and satisfying for everyone. Registration is online or by calling 338-2222.

Sunday’s 1 to 4 p.m. All Ages Art Happenings event has the theme of Waterworks. AAAH events are affordable and allow all sorts of people to get together for memorable, multisensory experiences. Each AAAH is a themed party packed with hands-on, creative activities for everyone, from touchy toddlers to adults who want to cut loose and play.

The plan for Waterworks is to use recycled materials to create a miniature outdoor waterpark — using bottles, pipes, buckets and pools to create a downhill waterslide before making tiny floating swimmers to enjoy it. Other activities will include magnetic fishing games, water gun painting and Kool-Aid tie-dye. Participants should wear a swimsuit and bring a towel! AAAH events are free and open to all; donations are always appreciated.

Matros has been an educator for 15 years, teaching at every level and setting from preschool circle-time, computer labs for the elderly and seminars for teachers. She developed the Art Studio exhibit and program at Boston Children’s Museum and is a published advocate for quality creative development in early childhood education. In addition to leading the Bridge Afterschool Arts program and providing community events for Waterfall Arts, Matros teaches art and singing at Cornerspring Montessori, private lessons, school programs and seminars throughout New England.
