The public is invited to the award ceremony and reception gala for the Hospice Volunteers of Waldo County’s annual juried art show Saturday, Aug. 15, starting 6:30 p.m. at Belfast Free Library, 106 High St. Also that evening will be an invitational pop-up gallery, food and music.

The public is encouraged to view the exhibit and vote for its favorite work prior to the celebration in the library’s Barbara Kramer Gallery. The artist with the most votes will receive a special People’s Choice award.

The pop-up gallery will feature many small works by some of the most collectable and emerging artists in Maine including David Estey, Kerstin Engman, Marc Leavitt, Julie Rose, Dan Anselmi, Lewis Cisle, Susan Cooney, Tricia Gardner and many more. All work is for sale, with half of sales to benefit HVOWC and the other half going to the artists.

The exhibit and evening is sponsored by Bangor Savings Bank, Camden National Bank, Front Street Shipyard, Coyote Moon, EBS Building Supplies, Robbins Lumber Company, Belfast Creative Coalition, Riposta Funeral Home, Village Farm in Freedom, Delvinos and Front Street Pub & Grill, all in support of the Hospice Volunteers of Waldo County. HVOWC provides non-medical support to patients and families facing a terminal illness and bereavement support to anyone in the community who has suffered the loss of a loved one. All services are always free of charge.
