Belfast Historical Society will present "Celebrating 40 Years of the Belfast Museum" Monday, Aug. 24, at 7 p.m. at Belfast Free Library, Abbott Room.

Historical Society President Megan Pinette will highlight artifacts and archival materials from the museum collection. The Belfast Museum, at the corner of Church and Market streets, opened Aug. 15, 1975, in the lower level of the building. In 1991, the museum moved into its current space on the first floor; the lower level is now dedicated to storage. The collections of Belfast-related photographs, artifacts, clothing and archival collections have been donated by members of the community.

Light refreshments will be served following the program. This event is free and open to the public. For more information, call 338-9229. Museum hours are Tuesday-Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
