Lincolnville Fire Department was called to the scene of a boat fire in the outer harbor at approximately 4 p.m. Monday afternoon, Aug. 24.
Witnesses at the scene said the boat was leaving the harbor and then stopped to return when it caught on fire.
Lincolnville Fire Chief Ben Hazen said that the boat is owned by Tom Crowley and that Crowley, his son and grandson were on the boat at the time of the fire. Hazen also said the boat had been towed out into the bay to keep other boats safe from the flames.
No one was injured in the fire.
As of 5 p.m., the fire had been extinguished with the help of local fishermen and firefighters, who responded to the fire with Harbor Master Mike Hutchins on his boat.
