Michael Coulombe, a member of Waldo County Emergency Management Agency and Incident Management Assistance Team, will present an emergency preparedness session at Palermo Community Library Aug. 31 at 6:30 p.m.

Most residents of Palermo and surrounding areas know how to hunker down for days during storms; however, Coulombe will discuss different types of disasters that may happen in Waldo County. He’ll cover what is needed to be prepared, how to make a plan and staying connected. Coulombe will also explain NIXLE, a free Internet-based service, and how to create a family communication plan.

Coulombe is employed by the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife as a fish culturist in Palermo. He volunteers for Maine Amateur Radio Emergency Services (ARES), and is district emergency coordinator covering Hancock, Knox, Waldo and Washington counties.

This free presentation is co-sponsored by Palermo Community Library and Waldo County Emergency Management Agency’s campaign to help residents be better prepared.
