Jessica Peill-Meininghaus, author of “The Gnome Project: One Woman’s Wild and Woolly Adventure,” will talk about how she came to write this book Thursday, Sept. 10, at 6:30 p.m. at Belfast Free Library, 106 High St.

“The Gnome Project” describes artist and wool crafter Peill-Meininghaus’ yearlong daily practice of making a felted wool gnome. She had decided that she needed a project to teach herself follow-through in life and settled on making one of her popular felted-wool gnomes every day for a year. With pipe cleaners and wool roving, amidst the chaos of raising four children and moving cross-country, Peill-Meininghaus felted her way through hundreds of charming, pointy-hatted, often bearded characters.

All are invited to come hear Jessica discuss her daily practice, the adventures in her first book and the art of needle felting. Attendees may ask questions, see a gnome making demonstration and enjoy themselves. Books, gnomes and artwork will be available for sale. For more information, call the library at 338-3884, ext. 10.
