Guest speaker Janelle Michaud of Medtronic will discuss deep brain stimulation treatment at the Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders Support Group Tuesday, Sept. 8. The meeting will be at 10 a.m. in the Home Health & Hospice conference room at 125 Northport Ave.

Medtronic makes a deep brain stimulation implant that works like a pacemaker for the brain to treat movement disorders such as Parkinson’s and essential tremor. Maine Medical Center in Portland has the first comprehensive deep brain stimulation center in Maine.

The talk is open to the public and will last about an hour. Refreshments will be served.
