Artist Gary Akers is giving his coffee table book “Memories Of Maine” free to Maine libraries; Maine schools that has an art program or library; and to Maine B&Bs. Those who qualify who wish to receive the free book are asked to stop by the artist’s seasonal gallery, which is open daily through Sept. 30.

Akers’ Green Schoolhouse Gallery is a charming restored one-room Finnish Schoolhouse located two miles down the St. George peninsula on Route 131 South. These books are limited, first come/first serve. Recipients will be requested to show proof of affiliation and to sign and fill out a form to receive a copy.

“Memories Of Maine” is an inspiring book about memories and of Akers’ favorite paintings of Maine he has executed over the last twenty years. This book contains a remarkable collection of more than 100 tempera, oil and watercolor paintings.
