The first weekend of October is a good time to visit the Farnsworth Art Museum in Rockland and Penobscot Marine Museum in Searsport, as both are offering free admission at some level.

Fling Into Fall in Searsport

Admission will be free at Penobscot Marine Museum for all visitors during Searsport’s annual Fling Into Fall celebration Friday and Saturday, Oct. 2 and 3. In addition, the Museum Store will offer 20 percent off all purchases Saturday, and many Searsport businesses are offering sales for the festival weekend. Grasshopper Shop is having a 20 percent off storewide sale Friday and Saturday; WORKS is having a storewide sale on books; and Searsport Shores Campground is offering free camping to Searsport residents. For the complete Fling Into Fall schedule, check out the event’s Facebook page.

Cardholder weekend at Farnsworth
