Diane O’Brien will lead a workshop on designing a knitted hat Saturday, Oct. 3, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Lincolnville Community Library, 208 Main St./routes 52 and 173.

Using a basic pattern, O’Brien will show how to add different elements to create an original hat design. She will teach techniques such as I-cord, picot edge, braid stitch and duplicate stitch. Those who wish may bring a pair of double-pointed needles and a ball of yarn to practice these techniques.

This is the fourth in a series of fiber arts workshops supported by a generous grant to the library in honor of Dale Mudge. The program is free, but registration is required. The library is located in Lincolnville Center. For more information or to register, call 763-4343 or email questions@lincolnvillelibrary.org.
