State police say a Searsport man died Tuesday, Sept. 29, in a single-vehicle crash on Route 3 in China.

Richard Breau, 37, was killed after his 2004 Volvo overturned on a curve, near S&T Motors, Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland said in a press release. Troopers said the car left the road, hit an embankment and flipped over, landing on its wheels. Breau, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the car, McCausland said. Police said the vehicle landed on top of Breau.

"If he had been wearing his seat belt, he likely would have survived the crash," Trooper Jeremiah Wesbrock stated in the press release.

Wesbrock noted Breau's driver's license had been revoked in Massachusetts. He was alone at time of the crash, which was reported at noon.
