Deborah Keene will discuss using Ayurvedic techniques to boost your immune system at Belfast Garden Club’s monthly program at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, in Belfast Free Library’s Abbott Room. The public is invited to the free talk.

Keene will give a brief background on Ayurveda (pronounced “ah-your-vay-dah”) and why its popularity is growing in this country. She’ll tell how to recognize signs and symptoms of imbalances at this time of year including dry skin and sleep disturbances and how to help alleviate them with the right foods, teas, spices, herbs and lifestyle practices. She’ll also present a simple yoga routine anyone can do.

Maine native Keene is a graduate of the Kripalu School of Ayurveda and a certified Ayurvedic consultant, certified Ayurvedic yoga specialist and a RYT500 yoga teacher. She has been conducting classes and workshops and consulting on an individual basis for more than 30 years.
