Kim Blanchard, RN, an operating room nurse, is Waldo County General Hospital’s second Daisy Award winner.

A goal of the Daisy Award is to recognize extraordinary nurses who make an enormous difference in the lives of people by the work they do every day.

Blanchard is described as someone who “always walks around with a smile on her face and ready to take on anything that comes her way.”

Daisy Award nominations are made by patients and their families, staff or physicians, with the winner selected by the Patient and Family Advisory Council.

Other nominees for the award were ambulatory care Registered Nurses April Kirby and Colleen Wynn, emergency department nurses Denise Lindahl and Chris Beguin, oncology nurse Brenda Burgess and Infusion Center nurse Sue Dupler.
