The second annual "Truth Summit on Medical (& other) Marijuana in Maine" will be held Saturday, April 29, 1 to 5 p.m., at American Legion Post 43, 143 Church St. A concert will follow at 7 p.m.
All Mainers are welcome, especially veterans and members of law enforcement, according to a press release from the event organizers, MM Patients & Caregivers in Knox and Waldo counties.
The event is free; attendees are asked to donate if possible to help cover speakers' travel costs.
Speakers include Hillary Lister, presenting an overview of current medical and recreational marijuana laws in Maine; Ryan Begin, discussing veterans' use of medical marijuana in Maine; Lori Libbey, RN, speaking about cancer treatment with medical marijuana in Maine; a doctor from the practice of Dr. Dustin Sulak, D.O., discussing the most common uses of medical marijuana in Maine.
Supporting sponsors are Maine Integrative Healthcare of Manchester, and 420 Greenbear Glass & Vaporizers of Newport.
The event in Belfast will be followed by a concert at the Legion Hall with tickets at the door for $5 to $10 (sliding scale) with all proceeds going to performers. There will be a cash bar.
