Outlook: Hustus, who has been assistant coach for the past few seasons before taking the reins for the Mustangs this spring, said he is “very optimistic with this team.”

“They are really starting to come together and help each other,” he said. “They are no doubt the hardest working team I have ever coached. This work ethic, combined with talent up and down the line-up, should bode well for us. How well we can hit the ball will be the biggest key to our success. If we can hit the ball better than we have in the past then we will be real competitive.”

The coach said he feels the team’s strength will be on the mound as “we are lucky enough to have seven or eight players that are able to pitch if needed.”
