The court sentenced a Swanville woman to 2 ½ months in jail for stabbing her boyfriend in the buttocks during a fight.

Michelle L. Sheaffer, 26, was sentenced April 25 to serve 42 months, with all but 75 days suspended, in the custody of the Department of Corrections for aggravated assault. She was also sentenced on a charge of refusing to submit to arrest or detention.

The court dismissed a third charge of assault on an officer.

On March 5, Belfast police and Waldo County Sheriff's personnel responded to a domestic disturbance at a home on Swan Lake Avenue. During a fight with a family member and her boyfriend, Sheaffer stabbed her boyfriend in the buttocks with a small kitchen knife, according to published reports.

When police attempted to arrest her, Sheaffer resisted and allegedly bit one of the officers on the hand.

Following her release, Sheaffer will be on probation for three years.
