Rob Dunbar Productions is back with another three-event Brooks Concert Series, filling Community Park with live music, food and merchandise vendors. First up is Country Fest on Saturday, May 20, from noon to 8 p.m.

“We are paying tribute to the original ‘Louisiana Hayride’ with performers singing songs from Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Hank Williams, Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash and more,” said Dunbar.

“The Louisiana Hayride” was a radio, then television, country music show broadcast from the Shreveport Municipal Memorial Auditorium. Many a country great, including Elvis Presley, appeared on the radio show; and Presley had his first television appearance on the show in 1954.

Q 106.5's Cindy Campbell is back as festival emcee and will open the day, which will present one of its headliners early: Mainely Country band will be performing at 1:10 p.m., as it will be performing elsewhere that evening. Young sensation Jessi Mallory will close the fest, presenting an Elvis Presley tribute, circa 1954.

“A true professional; she’s going to wear the same clothes and do the same set list as he did when he first came on the ‘Hayride,’” said Dunbar.

Also in the lineup are three of Maine’s up and coming stars: sibling acts Sisters and The Zack Daniels Duo; and Searsport’s Alexis Loring, first on the bill. There will be close to 20 vendors/crafters, selling jewelry to kites and everything in between. And the food options include doughboys, cotton candy, lobster rolls and full dinners. There will be games and prizes to win, as well.

Main sponsor for Country Fest is Erik Fowler’s Affordable Towing. Brooks Community Park is at 11 Community Park Drive, off Route 7. Admission is $10, $5 for veterans and students, free for those younger than 13.

The series will continue June 17 with a return of the popular Woodstock-style fest. A third music fest is planned for the early fall. For more information, visit the Rob Dunbar Productions page on Facebook.
