The Midcoast Babe Ruth League is rapidly winding to a close as many youth baseball teams continued to work to improve their playoff position through games played Sunday, June 25.

The regular-season standings through June 25 included: Penobscot Bay Dentistry 7-1, Union Farm Equipment 6-2, Rockland Ford 4-4, Damariscotta Lions 4-4, Granite Coast Orthodontics 4-4, P.G. Willey 3-5, Georges Valley 3-5 and Waldoboro 1-7.

Scores from June 25 games included: Damariscotta Lions 8, Georges Valley 7; Granite Coast Orthodontics 7, P.G. Willey 2; Penobscot Bay Dentistry 11, Rockland Ford 8 and Union Farm Equipment 11, Waldoboro 5.

The score from a June 23 game was: Georges Valley 5, Penobscot Bay Dentistry 1.

Scores from June 22 games included: P.G. Willey 9, Waldoboro 5; Granite Coast Orthodontics 7, Damariscotta Lions 4; and Union Farm Equipment 12, Rockland Ford 3.

The score from a June 21 game included: Georges Valley 14, Waldoboro 6.

Scores from June 20 games included: Penobscot Bay Dentistry 10, Granite Coast Orthodontics 0; Union Farm Equipment 17, P.G. Willey 1; and Damariscotta Lions 7, Rockland Ford 5.

The regular season will wrap on Tuesday, June 27, with the championship game slated for Wednesday, July 5.

Penobscot Bay Dentistry scored two in the first, one in the second, three in the fourth, two in the fifth and sixth and one more in the seventh. Rockland Ford scored four in the first, one in the third and fifth frames and two more in the seventh.

Damariscotta Lions 8, Georges Valley 7

At Damariscotta June 25, the hosts walked off with a one-run win over Georges Valley. Damariscotta Lions scored three in the first, one in the third and two in the sixth and seven innings, while Georges Valley scored one in the first, two in the second, one in the third and three in the sixth.

Leading Georges Valley at the dish was Jonah Carlson (2 singles, run, 2 stolen bases), Joey Curtis (triple, single, 2 runs), Cole Stevens (single, run), Austin Chilles (run), Nathaniel Barnard (2 singles, run, stolen base), Camden Powell (2 singles, run) and Darik Johnson (2 singles).

Stevens, Barnard and Carlson pitched for Georges Valley, allowing five hits and six walks, with 13 strikeouts. Cumming, Chase Crockett and Sirois pitched for Damariscotta Lions, allowing 11 hits and six walks, with eight strikeouts.

Georges Valley 5, Penobscot Bay Dentistry 1

At Belfast June 23, Georges Valley hit the road to hand the top-ranked Waldo County opponent its first loss of the campaign.

Georges Valley, which finished with five hits and an error, scored three runs in the first and fifth innings. Penobscot Bay, which had two hits and two fielding miscues, tallied its run in the sixth.

Joey Curtis pitched a complete-game two-hitter, allowing one unearned run, walked one and struck out 12. Curtis also ripped a two-run double in the fifth and scored twice.

Georges Valley crossed the plate three times in the first inning on Matt Spear's single, an error and passed ball.

Penobscot Bay plated a run in the sixth inning on Luke Hamlin's RBI-single.

Tanner Veilleux and Brandon Cournoyer pitched for the hosts.

Union Farm Equipment 12, Rockland Ford 3

At Thomaston June 22, UFE pulled away from the hosts late in the contest and swung to a nine-run win. Union Farm Equipment scored three in the fourth, five in the sixth and four more in the seventh, while Rockland Ford scored one in the second and two in the third.

Leading UFE at the plate was Travis Wyman (2 singles, run, stolen base), Ryan Creamer (double, stolen base), Duncan Widdecombe (double, run), Wyatt Fillmore (single, 3 runs, 2 stolen bases), Jordan Powell (2 runs), Conner Simmons (3 singles, 2 runs), Jonah Miller (single, run), Jake Bickmore (run) and Noah Crosby (2 singles, run).

Georges Valley 14, Waldoboro 6

At Waldoboro June 21, Georges Valley benefited from an eight-run third inning and bested Waldoboro by the same margin. Georges Valley also scored three in the fourth, two more in the fifth and one in the sixth, while Waldoboro scored two in the first, fourth and fifth frames.

Leading Georges Valley at the plate was Joey Curtis (single, double, 2 runs), Cole Stevens (double, single, 2 runs), Matt Spear (run, stolen base), Caleb Powell (run), Austin Pagano (2 singles, 2 runs), Abe LeMole (double, single, 2 runs), Nathaniel Barnard (2 runs) and Darik Johnson (single, 2 runs).

At Newcastle June 20, the Lions tacked on an insurance run in both the third and fifth frames and edged out Rockland Ford. Damariscotta Lions also scored five runs in the first, while Rockland Ford scored two in the first and three in the second.

At Belfast June 20, Penobscot Bay Dentistry remained unbeaten with a shutout win over Granite Coast Orthodontics. PBD scored three in the first, one in the third, two in the fourth and five in the sixth.

At Belfast June 18, the hosts remained unbeaten with a win over Waldoboro. Penobscot Bay Dentistry scored five in the first, one in the second and third innings and four more in the fifth, while Waldoboro scored one in the first.
