With Midcoast Little League championship games in the rearview mirror, the District 2 Little League baseball and softball all-star tournaments are now on-deck — or in action — with four tournaments in Rockland and Thomaston.

The tourneys are for children ages 9-10, 10-11 and 11-12. Teams from Five Town, Oceanside, Medomak Valley, Waldo County and Lincoln County will participate in various events.

The 11-12 softball tournament began with exhibition games, as the official double-elimination tournament began on Monday, June 26 at George C. Hall Field in Rockland. Five Town and Lincoln County are the only two teams, thus, the tournament will be a best-of-three format, as Five Town won the first game 18-1 in four innings.

The 11-12 baseball tournament will begin with exhibition games on Saturday, July 1 and the double-elimination tournament will begin on Saturday, July 15 at E. Allen Gordon Field in Rocklandn (some games may be played in Thomaston). Teams from Oceanside, Medomak Valley, Waldo County, Five Town and Lincoln County will participate.

The 9-10 baseball tournament began with exhibition games Saturday, June 24, with the double-elimination tournament set to begin on Sunday, July 9 at E. Allen Gordon Field in Rockland. Teams from Waldo County, Oceanside and Lincoln County will participate.

The 10-11 baseball tournament began with exhibition games, with the double-elimination tournament set to begin on Monday, July 10 at E. Allen Gordon Field in Rockland. Five Town and Oceanside are the two teams, thus, the tournament will be a best-of-three format.

There will be no 9-10 softball tournament as Medomak Valley was the lone team to comprise a squad. Thus, Medomak Valley will represent District 2 in the state tournament, which will begin on Saturday, July 15 in Scarborough.
