While Mother Nature certainly had her say by day’s end, the Midcoast Babe Ruth League regular season concluded on Tuesday, June 27 as the eight teams turn their focus to the postseason.

Tuesday was jam-packed with four regular-season finales, but only one played out as P.G. Willey doubled up Penobscot Bay Dentistry 4-2.

Damariscotta Lions were scheduled to host Waldoboro, but the game was canceled due to rain. The other two games — Granite Coast Orthodontics at Union Farm Equipment and Georges Valley at Rockland Ford — were both called a few innings into their respective games, also due to rain.

MBRL president Don Shields said the three games will not be made up as they, ultimately, will not change the final standings.

The final standings were: Penobscot Bay Dentistry 7-2, Union Farm Equipment 6-2, Damariscotta Lions 4-4, Rockland Ford 4-4, Granite Coast Orthodontics 4-4, P.G. Willey 4-5, Georges Valley 3-5 and Waldoboro 1-7.

The quarterfinal playoffs will be played on Thursday and Friday, June 29-30, with two games on each day. All begin at 5:30 p.m.

On Thursday, No. 3 Damariscotta Lions will host No. 6 P. G. Willey and No. 2 Union Farm Equipment will host No. 7 Georges Valley, while on Friday, No. 1 Penobscot Bay Dentistry will host No. 8 Waldoboro and No. 4 Rockland Ford will host No. 5 Granite Coast Orthodontics.

The semifinals will be contested on Saturday, July 1, while the championship game will be on Wednesday, July 5 at 5 p.m. at the home field of the highest remaining seed.
