Pearl E. McFarland, 82, a longtime resident of Albion, passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at Maine General in Augusta after a short illness.

Pearl was born in 1934 in Thorndike. She graduated from Freedom Academy. Pearl married Paul E. McFarland. She was a former member of the Eastern Star, Albion Fireman's Auxiliary, and the Albion PTA. Pearl loved going to breakfast with friends every Wednesday, hanging with the grandchildren, sewing, making quilts, pot holders and her world-famous pickles.

She was predeceased by her parents Rufus and Laura Gardiner; sisters, Winnie, Althea, Coral, and Elinor; and her brothers, Merton, Lohman, Stewart, Austin, Maurice, Robert, and twin brother Earl.

Pearl is survived by her loving husband of 63 years Paul McFarland; son Paul (Tony) McFarland and wife Sandra McFarland of St Augustine, Fla.; daughter Linda Gray and husband Darryl Gray of Palm Coast, Fla.; grandchildren, Shane McFarland, Jennie Pooler, Chloe Gray and Alexander Dixon; great-grandchildren, Mariah, Madison and Whitney; her sister Beatrice Bryant and husband Joe Bryant; and her special friend of many years Carol Clark.

The family would also like to send a special thank you to Beverly Bradstreet and June Dixon.

There will be a graveside service Saturday, July 8, at 10 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Freedom. There will be a gathering after the service at Bessie Building in Albion.
