A Unity man was released on cash bail July 1 after he allegedly punched and bit an ex-girlfriend during an argument.

Robert Jurdak, 36, was charged with domestic violence assault, Class D, criminal mischief, Class D, and obstructing the report of a crime, Class D.

Police said the charges were filed against Jurdak after Waldo County Sheriff’s deputies Ryan Jackson and Andrew Mulligan responded to a domestic disturbance at a Gordon Hill Road residence.

The deputies talked to the victim who told police Jurdak was an ex-boyfriend and the two had been spending some time together. When the two began arguing, the victim asked Jurdak to leave, at which time he allegedly punched and bit her, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office. The victim attempted to call police but Jurdak took her phone and smashed it.

Jurdak was arrested and taken to Waldo County Correctional Center where he was later released on $500 cash bail.
