Five Town Basketball president Juan Alcala said summer basketball is in full swing and things continue to gear up for the organization's annual Hoopfest on Friday through Sunday, July 14-16 at Camden Hills Regional High School.

Ten teams across the state will make the trek to the Midcoast for three days of court action and compete in 34 games in playoff atmosphere-style basketball

The following teams will attend: Camden Hills of Rockport, Oceanside of Rockland, Caribou, Vinalhaven, Presque Isle, Mount View of Thorndike, Gardiner, John Bapst of Bangor, Medomak Valley of Waldoboro and Hermon. Vinalhaven won the state Class D championship last winter.

Each team will play five games Friday and Saturday and all squads will participate in the single-elimination playoffs on "Championship Sunday."

New to the tournament will be a 3-point shooting contest.

Also, Five Town Basketball will hold a food drive during this year's tournament. Fans and teams can bring non-perishable food items to be donated to local area food pantries. No one is obligated to donate food items, however, any donated items will be "greatly appreciated by Five Town Basketball," said Alcala.
