A Unity man who was arrested earlier this month for allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend was arrested again July 14 for attempting to contact the victim.

Robert Jurdak, 36, was arrested and charged with violation of a protection order and violating a condition of release. The charges were filed against Jurdak after police were contacted July 13 by the ex-girlfriend, who said he attempted to contact her through various social media platforms, Chief Deputy Jason Trundy of Waldo County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputy Cassandra McDonald investigated the complaint and arrested Jurdak.

Earlier this month, Jurdak was arrested after he allegedly punched and bit his ex-girlfriend during an argument. The two had been spending some time together but began arguing, prompting the victim to ask Jurdak to leave, according to published reports. That’s when police said Jurdak assaulted the victim and smashed her phone so she couldn’t call police.

He is facing domestic violence assault, criminal mischief and obstructing the report of a crime charges related to that incident.
