Everyone is welcome to join Adas Yoshuron Synagogue at the Rockport Opera House Saturday, Dec. 16, from 5 to 7 p.m. for a community Chanukah celebration. This party is open to all and will be the major public celebration of Chanukah bringing together people from communities throughout the Midcoast.

Musicians Lisa Mayer and Sruli Dresdner will perform live traditional Jewish music throughout the evening, lead guests in time-honored Chanukah songs, and teach Israeli dancing. There will be a community menorah lighting ceremony. Main Street Markets from Rockland will provide a gourmet latke bar. There will be Chanukah crafts for kids.

Adas Yoshuron "is extremely excited and thrilled to be sharing this Jewish holiday full of history, tradition, food and music with our community," according to a press release from the synagogue. "We are reaching out to help build better understanding, stronger relationships, and celebrate diversity in Midcoast Maine."

Cost for the event is $10 per person and kids 12 and under are free. Adas Yoshuron thanks  sponsors Cedar Works, French and Brawn, Maine Street Markets, Once A Tree, Planet Toys and the Grasshopper Shop of Rockland.
