Belfast Free Library, 106 High St., will host a  book launch for poet Karie Friedman’s book “Add Water, Add Fire” Tuesday, Dec. 19, at 6:30 p.m. All are invited to the celebration, which will take place in the library’s Abbott Room.

Kaervelle “Karie” Friedman died peacefully on Sept. 12. An active member of Maine’s poetry community, she published her work, gave readings around the state and enjoyed meeting with her writing group, The Poets’ Table. In honor and with deep appreciation for Friedman’s poetry and friendship, the Poets’ Table has published her manuscript under Poets’ Table Press.

The event on the 19th will feature a poetry reading of Friedman’s work by members of the Poets’ Table, a group that was initiated by Friedman to support poets in their work of making better poems and making poems more publishable. Others are invited to read along.

Refreshments will be served and books will be available to purchase. For more information, call the library at 338-3884, ext. 10.
