To complete her 60-stop "Waldo County Works" business tour over the last two months, Maine House Majority Leader Erin Herbig, D-Belfast, will host a business roundtable Tuesday, Dec. 12, to foster countywide business collaboration with the goal of rural economic development.

The roundtable will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. at the University of Maine Hutchinson Center, 80 Belmont Ave. (Route 3). Joining Herbig will be Peggy Schaffer, small business advocate, Maine Secretary of State, and Yellow Light Breen, president and chief executive officer, Maine Development Foundation.

“Over the last two months I’ve visited 60 Waldo County businesses who, despite coming from diverse industries, share many of the same challenges and opportunities in starting out in rural Maine,” Herbig said.

“This will be an opportunity for business owners to meet one another and have those critical conversations about the different challenges rural Maine faces and identify how we can work together to create more good-paying jobs for families for generations to come.”

Herbig's report on her tour appeared as a guest editorial in the Dec. 7 issue of The Republican Journal.
