The public is invited to meet five candidates seeking the Democratic nomination for Congress at a candidates' forum Sunday, Jan. 21, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the University of Maine Hutchinston Center on Route 3. The event is free and open to all.

Jonathan Fulford, Jared Golden, Craig Olson, Tim Rich and Lucas St. Clair will give opening remarks as to why they should be the winning candidate in the Democratic primary in June. The primary winner will face incumbent Rep. Bruce Poliquin, R-2nd Dist., in the general election in November.

For the major part of the program, the candidates will answer questions from the audience. There will be time at the end for audience members to speak individually with the candidates.

Fulford, who lives in Monroe, has been a farmer, carpenter and building contractor for over 30 years. Golden, of Lewiston, is assistant majority leader (whip) in the Maine House of Representatives. Olson is a small business owner who has served the town of Isleboro in multiple capacities. Rich, who has worked in health care technology and as a political organizer, owns a café in Bar Harbor. St. Clair is executive director of Elliotsville Plantation, promoting creation of a national park in the North Woods.

The forum is organized by Indivisible Waldo with co-sponsors Belfast Indivisible, Head of the Tide Indivisible, Midcoast Maine Indivisible, and Waldo County Chapter of Maine AllCare. For more info, contact Trudy at Indivisible Waldo, tmiller@west.net.
