Less than a week out from the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference championship meet, the wrestlers of Belfast look to finish their season on a high note, in a weekend meet against Medomak Valley of Waldoboro, Lincoln Academy of Newcastle, Mount Blue of Farmington and Gardiner, on Saturday, Jan. 27.
The Lions, who still have a makeup meet to attend, clawed their way to three wins in four matches on Saturday, to finish 3-1 on the day, with wins over Lincoln Academy 48-12, Gardiner 48-6 and Mount Blue 45-24, while they fell to Medomak Valley 48-30.
The individual Belfast results, with Lions listed first, were:
120 pounds — Patrick Hanley won by forfeit over Gardiner; and pinned Colby Hyde, Med.
126 pounds — Patrick Hanley won by forfeit over Lincoln Academy and Mount Blue.
132 pounds — Chase Curry pinned Michael Fairservice, Gar; pinned Hannah Workman, LA; pinned Damien Henry, Med; and won by forfeit over Mount Blue.
145 pounds — Elijah Charbonnier pinned James Rinderknecht, Gar; and won by forfeit over Lincoln Academy.
Patrick Curtis won by forfeit over Medomak Valley; and beat Hayden Nile, MtB.
152 pounds — Isaac Hamm pinned Dana Purington, Gar; won by forfeit over Lincoln Academy; was pinned by Eli Miller, Med; and won by forfeit over Mount Blue.
160 pounds — David Warren won by forfeit over Gardiner; pinned Dylan Soohey, LA; was pinned by Tyler Cox, Med; and pinned Tucker Nicholas, MtB.
170 pounds — Jason Norwood pinned Tyler Robishaw, Gar; pinned Lucas Kelsey, LA; pinned Jakob Gess, Med; and won by forfeit over Mount Blue.
220 pounds — Brian White won by forfeit over Gardiner, Lincoln Academy and Mount Blue; and was pinned by Erik Benner, Med.
285 pounds — Cameron Watts won by forfeit over Gardiner and Mount Blue; pinned Nicholas Popp, LA; and pinned Jacob White, Med.
