The Mount View cheerleaders ventured to the Cross Insurance Center on Saturday, Jan. 27 for the Class B North championship competition in hopes of securing a top-six finish to advance to states.

However, several teams had a leg up on the Mustangs — including annual powerhouses Hermon and Ellsworth — as the ‘Stangs finished 10th among 15 squads.

Hermon, which has won seven of the last eight state Class B titles, finished first in the regional competition with 85.5 points, while Ellsworth (81.4), Old Town (75.9), Mount Desert Island (65.9), Gardiner (62.9) and Erskine Academy of South China (57.5) round out the top six.
