Police are reporting a new scam operating via text that attempts to get victims to pay for a grant award.

According to a press release from Waldo County Sheriff's Office, a group called "Money Grants" is using text messages that offer between $20,000 and $500,000 grants to victims. The texts state if a victim is approved to receive a grant, fees of between $2,000 and $10,000 must be paid to Money Grants before the award is released.
