Join Habitat for Humanity of Waldo County and New Ventures Maine at the Waldo County YMCA Community Room Monday, Feb. 12, from 6 to 7 p.m., for a free Affordable Home Ownership Workshop followed by a half-hour one-on-one help session.

Meg Klingelhofer, Habitat for Humanity of Waldo County executive director, will provide an overview of the Habitat for Humanity of Waldo County build program and will guide attendees through the application process to become a partner homeowner. The open application period for the 2018 build runs through Feb. 23, and applications will be available onsite.

Habitat for Humanity of Waldo County is a volunteer organization with only one paid employee. There are myriad opportunities available for professional development, as the extensive network of existing volunteers includes professionals and experienced volunteers in a variety of fields.

Information will be available on ways to volunteer on a home build, in the office, with events, research, development, and wherever a community member wishes to share their time and talent. Habitat is dedicated to building relationships while building homes, hope, and community.

Melinda Wildes from New Ventures Maine will present on 4:1 match savings opportunities to help future homeowners with unexpected expenses. She will also discuss financial literacy, career, and budgeting programming offered through New Ventures. There will be information available about Habitat for Humanity of Waldo County workshops this spring and summer related to affordable housing, home maintenance, and home finances.

Registration is helpful but not required. For more information, email or call Habitat at 338-2344.
