U.S. Sen. Angus King, I-Maine, has welcomed Ursa Beckford of Liberty to serve as an intern in his Washington office this spring.

“I am thrilled to have Ursa intern in my Washington, D.C., office,” King said. “It’s great to see young Maine people engage with policymakers, and learn firsthand about the history of our nation. They are the next generation of leaders, and their hard work gives me hope for a bright future for Maine and the country.”

Beckford is a graduate of College of the Atlantic, where he studied politics and economics. During college, he also worked at the Restorative Justice Project in Belfast and produced a documentary film about the opioid epidemic.

King’s internship program welcomes students, graduates and graduate students who have demonstrated academic excellence and a strong interest in public service. Interns in his office conduct legislative research, greet constituents, give tours of the U.S. Capitol, and provide administrative support.
