The spring curriculum for Senior College at Belfast 2018 includes a variety of classes in literature, history, language, gardening, technology, philosophy, art and science.

The new course catalog includes classes about the skeptic philosopher David Hume, the passion of American abolitionists, the eerie predictions of “Brave New World” and “1984,” great 20th century short stories, the tragic love of Chaucer’s “Troilus and Criseyde,” Darwin and evolution, masters of the British mystery, conversational French, gardening, writing your family story, watercolor, figure drawing, understanding technology, an exploration of our government, and an examination of the values and legacy of our country.

In addition, four special one-day courses are offered, Chinese opera, April 10; growing orchids indoors, May 3; intro to drawing, May 22; and mixin’ it up with Grandma Moses, June 7.

Spring session begins Thursday, March 22. Classes run for six consecutive Thursdays, ending April 26. All classes are offered at the University of Maine Hutchinson Center on Route 3 in Belfast.
