This has been a record-breaking year for entries into the Maine Photography Show, presented every spring by the Boothbay Region Art Foundation. Juror Peter Ralston has selected 123 images to be shown.

Ralston, renowned photographer from Rockport, whose image “Pentecost” was named by Down East magazine as Maine's number one iconic image, was faced with the task of reviewing 1033 images from 382 photographers from across the state. The juried selections will be shown at the Boothbay Region Art Foundation gallery, 1 Townsend Ave., between April 8 and May 5.

Thanks to the generous support from the show's sponsors there are 21 cash prizes being awarded in four categories: Color; Black and White; Student; and the special category, Remnants. Sponsors are First Advisors, Boothbay Harbor Framers, Capital Area Camera Club, First Light Camera Club, Portland Camera Club, Mine Oyster, McSeagull's, Hawke Motors and Boothbay Boat Sales.

Midcoast photographers whose work was selected for MPS 2018 include Bronwen Williamson of Belfast; John Boeckeler, Matthew Czuchra, Peter Imber and Tim Shaw of Camden; Richard Reynolds of Cushing; Jean Davis of Friendship; Ed Kenney of Owls Head; Stacey Keefer of Rockport; Sue Reehm of South Thomaston; Maddy Collins of Union; and Laura Zamfirescu of Monroe.
