River Arts on Route 1 invites artists throughout Maine to submit artwork for jurying in its upcoming exhibition, “Figures.” Artists can submit up to three works in any medium including sculpture, photography, collage, painting, ceramics and fine craft — representational or abstract.

The show is looking for human figures in all representations — sketches, drawings, painting abstract and real. Animal figures also may be included. The juror for the show is Waldo County’s Kris Engman, who teaches drawing, painting and design in the University of Maine Art Department; and figure drawing at Colby College.

Work can be delivered anytime during gallery hours until the deadline, which is Saturday, March 10, at 4 p.m. An opening reception will be held from Friday, March 16, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Artists may submit up to three works for an entry fee of $20, $15 for members. Artists will be notified by email or phone of the juror’s decision. Submissions may not have been shown at River Arts previously. Entry forms are available online at riverartsme.org and at the gallery when submitting. All works must have artist’s name on the back.

River Arts holds 10 themed, open, juried exhibitions per year, with some of Maine’s most prominent art community members as jurors. More than 1,000 different Maine artists have exhibited in these shows. Queries and requests may be directed to 563-1507 or info@riverartsme.org.
