In celebration of Women’s History Month in March, the Kramer Gallery of Belfast Free Library offers “Women Painting Women,” a group show by The Women Artists of Midcoast Maine. The Kramer Gallery is located on the ground floor of the library, 106 High St.

The Women Artists of Midcoast Maine came together two years ago to promote, support and celebrate each other’s art. The eight artists in this show come from varied backgrounds, but all now devote significant time to painting. As a group, they have had a number of exhibitions in the past year, from Bangor to Damariscotta, and have more planned for 2018.

The Women Artists of Midcoast Maine include Leecia Price, Debbie Mitchell, Deb Jellison, Summer Hart, Joanne Houlson, Suzanne Roberts,  Betty Schopmeyer and Kay Carter. "Women Painting Women" developed as a natural outgrowth of their desire to support female artists everywhere.

“We value women's roles, past and present, and celebrate the women in our lives and in society. We have distinct styles and subjects, and we all love color,” they said.
