Debra Lynne Jarvis of Newport News, Va., and Belfast sustained from life March 2, 2018. Debbie was born in Newport News, Va., to Helen Virginia Trainer Jarvis and John Simpson Jarvis. She is survived by her sister, Dianne Renee Jarvis Hancock; her nephew, David Allen Hancock; and her niece, Lindsay Blair Hancock Wheatley.

Debbie graduated from Ferguson High School in Newport News, Va., and attended Thomas Nelson Community College, Hampton, Va., and Friendship Institute of Theology, Newport News, Va. Debbie got the most pleasure from her volunteer work and was active in several churches and organizations including: First United Methodist Church, The Church of the Nazarene, and Trinity Lutheran Church, all of Newport News and First Baptist Church, Belfast, and Searsport Congregational Church. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Pochontas Chapter 103, Williamsburg, Va., and duel member Primrose Chapter 152, Belfast, and United Daughters of the Confederacy, Hampton, Chapter 167.

Debbie loved to travel and always had a positive attitude and great sense of humor. Her many friends brought her as much joy as she brought to each of them.

A memorial service in her honor will be Saturday, March 17, at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Nazarene, 29 Harpersville Road, Newport News, Va. A private interment will take place at Forest Lawn Cemetery at a later date.

A memorial service honoring Debbie will be held in Maine on Friday, March 23, at 2 p.m. at The First Baptist Church, 95 High St., Belfast.
