Midcoast Actors’ Studio has cast the first show of its 2018 season, “Peter and the Starcatcher.” Based on the 2004 novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson and adapted for the stage by Rick Elice, “Peter and the Starcatcher” provides the backstory for the characters of Peter Pan, Mrs. Darling, Tinker Bell, the Lost Boys and Captain Hook.

This hilarious, fantastical play with music serves as a prequel to J.M. Barrie’s “Peter and Wendy.” A cast of 17 portrays more than 100 unforgettable characters, relying on imagination and ingenious bits of stagecraft to bring the story to life.

The veteran MAS cast, directed by Meg Nickerson with music direction by Deb Fournier, includes Laila Al-Matrouk, Jason Bannister, Macy Burgess, Peter Conant, Bryan Hayes, Chris Hayes, Erin Hayes, Jay Holland, Tyler Johnstone, Grayson Koelbl, Gregory Marsanskis, Melora Norman, Nathan Roach, Brian Ross, Eric Sanders, Matthew Shelton and Finn Tarbox.

“Peter and the Starcatcher” will run May 11 through 20 at the Crosby Center. For more information, call 370-7592 or email midcoastactors@gmail.com.
