Snow continued to blanket the Midcoast Wednesday morning. Area schools were closed for the second day in a row, and local student walkouts to protest for gun legislation were put on hold.

Central Maine Power Co. made quick work of power outages. On Wednesday morning, the utility reported more than 1,000 of its 24,663 Waldo County customers in 16 towns without power. As of 4 p.m., there were 159 outages in eight towns.
