Hammond Buck of Plants Unlimited will discuss raised beds, weed control and easy-to-grow plants at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, at Belfast Free Library, 106 High St.

Buck’s program, hosted by Belfast Garden Club, will introduce deer-resistant cultivars, hybrids, and specialty grasses that require little care. He’ll discuss clover in place of blue grass for lawns, shrubs that need minor pruning, and specialty tools to aid in your work.

A graduate of Cornell University, Buck began Plants Unlimited, on Route 1 in Rockport, in 1978.

Everyone is invited to this free program in Belfast Garden Club’s annual daytime speakers series, which runs monthly from October to April. The club holds public business meetings at 1 p.m.
