The city of Belfast will hold an inaugural running series this year titled “Run Belfast 2018.”

Plans are for it to be an annual running series comprised of five to six events. This year will feature five events between May and October. The series is sponsored by Run Belfast. In the past, as it will continue, some of the races are hosted by Belfast Rotary.

The races are one mile in length, 5 kilometer (3.1 miles) or 10 kilometers (6.2 miles). One race includes a five-mile event.

The following is a list of races scheduled for 2018:

"Pace for PAWS" 5K — Saturday, May 26, Belfast Rail Trail at 8 a.m.

Coastal Mountains "Rail Trail" 5K and five-miler — Saturday, June 2, Belfast Rail Trail at 8 a.m.

Rotary "Kilted Canter" 5K — Saturday, July 21, Belfast Area High School at 8:30 a.m.

Rotary "Bug Run" 5K — Saturday, Aug. 18, Belfast City Commons at 8:30 a.m.

YMCA Pancake Triple Stack one-mile children's run, 5K and 10K — Sunday, Oct. 7, Belfast Area High School, 8:30 a.m.
