The Waldo County YMCA Bluefish youth swimmers wasted no energy in the pool, but made plenty of waves at the New England championships.

Seven Bluefish participated in the prestigious meet on March 10, 11, 17 and 18 at the Zesinger Aquatics Pool at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Brigham Graf highlighted the New England trip for the Bluefish, as Graf was the only Waldo County YMCA swimmer who got to stand on the podium, for his two top-eight finishes in the 50 yard butterfly (7th) and 100 freestyle (8th).

Swimmers needed to attain qualifying times to participate. Each swimmer could swim three individual events and two relay events.

Swimmers ages 10 and younger competed on Saturday and Sunday, March 10-11 and those 11 and older swam on Saturday and Sunday, March 17-18.

Swimmers who finished first through eighth were awarded medals, while ribbons were given to swimmers who finished ninth through 16th.
