Our wise, regal and infinitely kind Dale L. Breau, 66, passed away on April 10, 2018, at her home in Belmont. She was born in Augusta on March 17, 1952, and raised in Jefferson. She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Maurice Breau, and her mother, Florence Hutchins.

A teacher for more than 41 years, Dale was known for her extraordinary gift for mentoring and teaching hundreds of students to reach for their highest potential. Her talent was helping others find and cultivate theirs. She was so cherished by her kids that she won first place in Village Soup’s 2007 Best of the Best Teacher’s Award. Notably, she taught and later mentored all four of the Hemmens family kids who went on to successful careers in television and music because of the recognition, guidance, and championship she generously offered to help them achieve their dreams.

Therefore, in lieu of flowers or services, Dale requested that donations be made to causes focused on elevating others. With her permission, the Hemmens Family set up a scholarship fund to honor and continue her legacy of academic and artistic generosity. Donations can be made online at YouCaring.com/TheDale or sent and payable to: The Dale Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 165, Belfast, ME 04915. Or, her favorite Wildlife Rescue, sent and payable to: Wildlife Care Center, 1787 N. Belfast Ave. Vassalboro, ME 04989.

Dale’s family would like to extend thanks to Riposta Funeral Home, and to our dedicated teachers who change the world, one child at a time.
