Cold Comfort Theater, voted the Best of the Best theater in Waldo County 2018, is holding auditions for a musical adaptation of Shakespeare’s comedy/tragedy “The Tempest.” Auditions will be held Sunday, April 29, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 95 High St.

Although there are many non-singing roles, auditioners should expect to sing; one may bring sheet music of choice, but that is not necessary. Bringing a rehearsed 60-second verse monologue (no sonnets) is highly encouraged.

Open roles include, but are not limited to, Miranda, Ariel, Prospero, Gonzalo, Alonzo, Antonio, Francisco and many smaller roles for males. Dancing sprites of all ages, both genders, are needed.

This production will be performed outdoors, under the stars on the stage in Wales Park, the last two weekends in July. The goal is a lovely, graceful and joyous rendition of one of Shakespeare's most popular plays. Direction is by Joe Goscinski of Stella Adler Conservatory, with musical direction and piano accompaniment by Colin Graebert.
